Abstract
Azathioprine is an orally active, immunosuppressive antimetabolite. It used to diminish the activity of the immune system as an antineoplastic agent. The mechanism of action of azathioprine involves inhibition of de novo purine synthesis after conversion to 6-mercaptopurine. © 2007 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved..
