Abstract
New technology is continuing to change the specialty of orthodontics as we know it. The old two-dimensional treatment paradigm has transitioned to 3D technologies, including digital study models, intraoral scanning, CBCT, and additive manufacturing.1 These new technologies can eliminate the need for alginate impressions, reduce the frequency of appointments, speed up laboratory turnaround times, and improve patient convenience and overall experience.2
