Abstract
This project aims to develop and educate occupational therapists on functional cognition screening tools and interventions in an inpatient setting. This program development is intended to improve occupational therapist evaluation processes at Banner Baywood Facility to include cognitive components and improve the interdisciplinary approach to treating cognitive deficits amongst other professionals, especially speech pathologists. The implementation of this program development provided the therapist with tools and resources vital for determining the disposition and level of independence for medication management/bill paying upon discharge. Therapists gained skill levels to implement appropriate functional cognition interventions, goals, and family training to guide the plan of care.
