Abstract
Upholding quality at every step of the orthodontic treatment process is essential to ensure the highest level of orthodontic care. As contemporary orthodontic practice shifts its focus to digital technologies and practice growth, ensuring treatment quality within clinical workflows is essential. This narrative review analyzes the origins of quality control in orthodontics and explores the established total quality management frameworks from business and health care to expand upon the limited applications of quality management in orthodontics. Clinical applications for integrating these total quality management principles into orthodontic practice are explored, and providers are encouraged to customize quality-control frameworks to their existing practice workflows.
